2 Corinthians 3

Best thing I marked today: 2 Corinthians 2

So I happened on this chapter when my family watched "Letters to God" this evening. Really good movie about faith nad trust in God even in the hardest times.  It is easy to trust him and have faith when live is good, but most essential to have faith and trust in the difficult times.

Verse 3 was displayed at the end of the movie. Verse 2, though, really strikes home that we are a letter from Christ to the world.  What others see of Christ, is what they see in us.  He wrote on our hearts a message to the world and relies on us to deliver his message.

Verse 12 is also a reminder and command to be bold since we have hope.We do not need to be shy in our faith, but boldly share the writing he put on our heart with others.  I pray that God gives me opportunities to be bold to share his love and message of hope with everyone I meet.

Luke 12

Best thing I marked today: Luke 12: 22 - 25, 31, 34

I am having difficulties focusing on the passage today since our toddler is climbing all over me. But this is a familiar chapter for me.  I know I will not gain much new insight with the distraction, but it is still valuable time spent in the Word and is a good model for my sons.

I do try to live in accordance with the highlighted passage. I know we are not wealthy, but at the same time, I am very aware of those who have less.  I think this is one reason why we often donate to the local food pantry and other missions.

When our older children were small, we were on a very tight budget and often had to shop with cash to stay on budget.  A few years later, we had a little more income and our credit increased.  This was dangerous for us because we began living outside our means.  We weren't worrying about what we had.  Instead, were living instead like it was limitless.  We stopped being good stewards of what God provided.

After several years of stringent budgeting, we were finally able to be able to share what God provides.  Verse 31 tells us to "seek his kingdome and these things will be given to you as well."  I don't think it is a coincidence at all that when we began seeking his kingdom in earnest, our finances constraints eased and we were able and willing to donate some of our surplus.  By investing time, money, and goods in our church and other charities that align with our beliefs, we are following the directions of verse 34 "For where your treasure is, there your heart is also."

I thank God for the new assignment my husband was offered.  The salary and benefits allows me to go back to school and go back to the education field.  One of my God given talents is teaching and I am called to work there.

I do not worry about God providing for us.  My trust in him taking care of my family is complete.  I worry about his plan for my life and my family.  But that is another session.....

Isaiah 55

Best thing I marked today: Isaiah 55:11-12
The Lord has all we need.  When we hunger or thirst, he provides, not just sustenance for our bodies, but our souls.  This is his promise to his people.  The words of the Lord are not spoken as empty promises.  They become his plans fulfilled, his purpose achieved.  When his plan for us is complete, we will be joyous and full of peace.

The plans of the Lord being fulfilled called out to me in this chapter.  I am about to embark on a new chapter of my life.  It is scary, but I believe that this is part of God's plan for me.   Verse 11 says that his word will not return empty, but what he desires will be accomplished.

Verse 12 is just bursting with exuberance!  I felt this way when I received my acceptance letter.  I literally jumped around and danced in my office, clapping with joy!  I knew peace then because my recent struggles had an end-time.  I know the degree won't be easy, but with his help, there will be beauty instead of pain.
